FlowerAunty Margaret was chosen to practice lomi lomi by her grandfather, Ko'o of Napo'opo'o, who was a powerful Kahuna. Before she was born Ko'o blessed her and gave her a special name,
Kalehuamakanoelulu'uonapali Aha'ula Keali'i.

Aunty's training began while she was still a child. Her grandfather used ili'ili or the "table of the pebbles" to instruct his young student to recognize different diseases. By arranging pebbles in the shape of a man and changing the shape and form to simulate a ridge, lump, swelling, or other clues, she was taught to feel and recognize symptoms in her patients. Her grandfather, aided by her aunts, then taught her the appropriate form of treatment to relieve not only the symptoms, but the underlying causes as well.

Aunty Margaret's mother passed away when she was still a school girl. Her mother's last wish was that Margaret receive a Christian education. Thus it was that she moved to the island of Oahu to attend school at the Susanna Wesley House. While she was on Oahu Aunty became a Christian and learned to love the Lord. However, she was lonely for her family and made several trips home to Napo'opo'o where she surrounded herself with the love and wisdom of her ohana as she continued to study lomi lomi.

After school Aunty returned to the Island of Hawaii and began a practice that she continues today. Over the years thousands of people have come to see Aunty to receive or learn lomi lomi. Still others have come for her ten day colon cleanse. Stories have spread around the world about this woman who took in wretched souls with serious skin ailments, critical and chronic illnesses, and in some cases no hope for living. They leave weeks later with shiny complexions and outlooks. People regularly show up on her doorstep from as far away as Europe and Asia desperate for her help. Through it all Aunty quickly shrugs off her role in the work she does. "The healing is done through you, not from you." Aunty says, "I am not the healer, God is the healer."

Now in her eighties Aunty still receives everyone with unconditional love. Her family has given her three retirement parties in the last seventeen years, but she refuses to stop her work. Most days you will find her on the lanai of her beach house sitting under a large hand-painted sign that greets her visitors with words that are dear to her heart.

"Touch the body with a loving touch. If your hands are gentle and loving, Your patient will feel the sincerity of your heart. His soul will reach out to yours, And the Lord's healing will flow through you both."
